New Global Telecom Selects Acme Packet's Net-Net SBCs to Expand VoIP servicesBy Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor New Global Telecom (NGT), provider of wholesale hosted and trunk-based VoIP solutions in the United States, has deployed Acme Packet's (News - Alert) Net-Net session border controllers (SBCs) in order to expand its VoIP services.
Acme Packet's SBCs were selected in conjunction with NGT’s NextSBC Reassurance Program, designed to ease both the technical and business obstacles of migrating users of other SBCs to Acme Packet's industry-leading solutions.
According to the company, its session border controllers (SBC) provide critical control functions to deliver trusted, first-class interactive communications—voice, video and multimedia sessions across IP network borders. They support multiple applications in service provider, large enterprise and contact center networks from VoIP trunking to hosted enterprise and residential services to fixed-mobile convergence.
It provides security, maximizing service reach and assuring SLAs. Net-SAFE, Acme Packet's comprehensive security framework, provides denial of service (DoS) attack protection, topology hiding and dynamic access control to prevent malicious attacks and non-malicious overloads.
Its flexible call admission control policies and application server load balancing allow NGT to ensure its service availability and deliver superior call quality for its customers. Maximizing the number of networks and customers to which NGT can deliver its services, Acme Packet's hosted NAT traversal enables VoIP calls and other SIP-based sessions to be completed through premises-based firewalls and NAT devices.
“Acme Packet is a company built for providing service provider solutions-encompassing not only its leading session border controllers but also its knowledgeable support organization," said Larry Stanfel, vice president, VoIP operations and technology from New Global Telecom (News - Alert).
He added, "Net-Net SBCs have delivered the performance, reliability, strong security and comprehensive control features we require to provide a first-rate business service."
Acme Packet claims to satisfy critical security, service assurance and regulatory requirements in wireline, cable and wireless networks; and support multiple protocols-SIP, H.323, MGCP/NCS and H.248-and multiple border points-interconnect, access and data center.
Seamus Hourihan (News - Alert), vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet said in a statement, “Our Net-Net SBCs solve the challenges for delivering trusted, first-class IP interactive communications over both service provider and enterprise network borders."
