Appia Adds Internet Phone Lines in Business Phone Service Offerings

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Appia Communications, a provider of key network and managed communication services for enterprises, has announced its addition of Internet phone lines or Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) trunks to the range of network and communication services it offers businesses. By doing so, Appia aims to offer more options to its consumers and even more flexibility to its reseller partners.

SIP technology is able to offer more options to those customers who adopt it and who maintain their own phone systems. This technology can help these customers increase the benefits they derive from business VoIP and other communications applications. To this end, SIP trunks can help these businesses by replacing regular phone lines, whether IP-PBXs or traditional PBXs. This new SIP trunk offering can work with customers' existing fast internet connections, or can also work with fully managed networks Appia can provide.

Appia president Victor von Schlegell said that SIP trunking naturally complements the wide range of other services Appia can offer its enterprise customers. He said that it is all about customer choice-SIP trunking can offer Appia's partners alternative ways to put up enterprise VoIP solutions that can help their partners' end customers with their needs for hosted services, as well as those customers who would rather have phone systems in the area.

Schlegell added a few extra words regarding the importance of flexibility to Appia and its service model. He said that the company remains committed to continue to offer key solutions that are geared to fit customers, instead of forcing customers to accept solutions that are not customized to suit their special needs. He added that SIP trunks can offer options that more traditional phone systems are not able to match. By doing so, he concluded, Appia can offer enterprise customers a clear path to the benefits that can accrue through having a business VoIP service-and without needing to give up on their existing investments.

Appia Communications was in news earlier this month for collaborating with CBX Technologies.
