CounterPath Releases NomadicPBX

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

CounterPath Corporation, a provider of desktop and mobile VoIP software solutions, has launched NomadicPBX, which company officials claim is the world's first turnkey platform for enabling converged mobile and broadband SIP voice, messaging and presence services.

'With NomadicPBX, CounterPath (News - Alert) is now the first company to provide an end-to-end FMC solution, from servers to endpoints, that bridges the mobile and wired domains,' said Donovan Jones, president and CEO of CounterPath.

Jones said that NomadicPBX is a game-changer that enables wireless carriers, MVNOs and other service providers to escape voice commoditization by offering a wide range of market-differentiating services that are an ideal fit for today's increasingly mobile workforces.

In addition, NomadicPBX gives wireless carriers and mobile virtual network operators a cost-effective way to launch enterprise FMC services.

The NomadicPBX application is a presence-based, fixed and mobile voice, and instant messaging/short message service technology mashup with a select set of enterprise-ready features.

Based on CounterPath's Network Convergence Gateway (News - Alert) platform and leveraging the company's patented technology, NomadicPBX enables wireless operators and other service providers to extend their feature sets into small and medium enterprises, which currently account for one-third of all hosted VoIP deployments, according to a recent Infonetics Research (News - Alert) survey.

Company officials also note that NomadicPBX's network-based features let operators push deeper into the business market and create new revenue streams that help to differentiate themselves based on innovative services rather than price alone.

End users can also find benefit from a single number and identity - so they can be reached immediately from any mobile, desk phone or VoIP softphone, including a client running on a mobile phone.
