Bride & Groom Stuck in Dubai Wed Virtually Using SkypeBy Kelly McGuire, TMCnet Editor For anyone who has ever gotten married, the wedding details - from the dress to the cake to the guest list - are all important pieces of the puzzle that need to be perfect for the "big day." And for bride and groom Natalie and Sean Murlaugh everything from the lavender ribbon wrapped flowers were all set and ready to go on their wedding day. There was only one problem: the bride and groom were in a different country, and couldn't get home. Stranded in Dubai and unable to get back to west London for their ceremony due to Iceland's volcano, the couple had to find a solution to meet their guests for the big day; virtually that is. "Once we realized we were resigned to it, we got the idea to do this over the Internet so at least they could still see us and hear us even though we weren't there," the bride said. With the help of the couple's hotel staff, use of their lobby, a Skype (News - Alert) connection and some other stranded passengers, the Murlaugh's were able to virtually attend their own wedding ceremony. "It was wonderful; I couldn't have picked a better way of doing it other than actually having them be there," said the bride's mother. "It was the next best thing." In fact, Sean's father said the wedding still managed to have a personal touch; all the guests back in London were able to file in front of the computer and say their personal hellos.
