General Telecom Rolls Out Expanded VoIP Offerings

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

General Telecom, a provider of switching and network management service on or off the cloud, has launched expanded, low-cost routing capabilities for the General Telecom RouteNGN route engine for VoIP/TDM traffic over next-generation networks.

The RouteNGN tool is developed to help carriers and service providers bring VoIP offerings quickly to market, while minimizing CAPEX and OPEX (News - Alert).

The General Telecom RouteNGN is high-capacity, least cost routing tool that can freely create custom tools that integrate with the RouteNGN via its application programminginterface (API) to connect with existing BSS/OSS systems to leverage investment in existing hardware and avoid the financial and time constraints of proprietary software.

The General Telecom RouteNGN routing solution combines a modular approach with open source development and can operate in the cloud, as a secure Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, onsite, or as a hybrid solution.

Randy Weinberger (News - Alert), GM of General Telecom said that RouteNGN powerful cloud-based routing application can be deployed by providers within weeks, instead of months, without incurring CAPEX. He finds it to give a truly competitive time-to-market advantage to the users.

Some companies such as Metro Communication have already benefitted from the deployment. According to Zachary Horn, president,Metro Communications, the incorporation of the General Telecom RouteNGN helped them lower the cost of IP and TDM voice termination services to their customers, through better routing accuracy and efficiency.

He adds that all their services are custom tailored to meet the unique needs of each customer. The RouteNGN technology helps Metro change routing decisions quickly which translates to greater profitability and better customer service.

"Over the past year we've worked closely with our customer and partner base to extract pure signal feedback on the network management equipment and services that will enable them to move quickly from concept to cash flow," said Steve Smith, executive vice president of sales and marketing for General Telecom. "With these extended capabilities that are available now, RouteNGN is the fiber that ties a network together."
