Most Basic Motivation for Enterprise VoIP - Cost ReductionBy David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor We'll put it to you simple and straight: 'The cost savings offered by VoIP solutions will motivate businesses to adopt them despite the recession,' according to business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert).
A recent study from Frost & Sullivan said that companies taking up VoIP could reduce their phone bills and make cost savings related to using a single client network infrastructure. Maybe, for whatever reason, you haven't seriously looked into VoIP before now. It's too 'techy.' You just don’t know much about it. Don't you have to buy some new hardware or something, you heard? Shop around. They're not all created the same. 'For the most part, the majority of voice over IP providers offer the same set of telephony features,' says the helpful VoIP FAQ. 'The way in which they vary are in their prices and reputations. Internet-based voice over IP companies were the first to present VoIP to the public. Later, the traditional phone companies began to offer VoIP service. To this day, the best rates are found with Internet-based VoIP service providers.' We understand. But we also know you're probably not as flush with cash as you were a couple years ago, so you might want to take another look at it, since 'The amount of money that can be saved through IP telephony solutions will see companies prepare to adopt them,' despite severely reduced budgets, the study found. Jayalakshmi Janakiraman, an analyst at Frost & Sullivan, said that, while businesses are 'adopting aggressive cost cutting methods' due to the recession, the cost saving benefits of VoIP 'will encourage them to plan for migration.' Not that VoIP is something you'd resort to only when times are a bit lean. We imagine you wouldn't mind saving money even when there's a bit more of it flowing around. According to the study, while businesses are unlikely to invest in VoIP during the current economic downturn, they understand the benefits of it, meaning post-recession adoption is more likely.
