Media5 Intros VoIP Over 3G Ready iPhone AppBy Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor Media5 Corporation (News - Alert), a developer of advanced Communications over IP products, services and developers solutions, has reportedly announced that their Media5-fone application for Apple (News - Alert) iPhone is VoIP over 3G ready, which will let iPhone and iPod Touch users to send and receive mobile calls over 3G and Wi-Fi networks.
The Media5-fone is a suite of SIP-based mobile VoIP and Unified Communications (News - Alert) softclient applications enabling end users to make VoIP calls using their smartphone with any WLAN and Packet Data, including 3G and 4G, available networks.
The Media5-fone features coupled with the latest smartphone devices and their built-in network capabilities allow service Providers and enterprises to fully realize the business potential of mobility and VoIP. Media5-fone is designed for service providers that want to offer mobile VoIP and Unified Communications services and features to consumers and enterprises.
Apple has recently removed the restrictions for third party developers and this has enabled Media5 to activate VoIP calls on Apple over 3G wireless networks feature for the Media5-fone.
Pascal Doré, Product Line Manager at Media5 has said that they have developed the 3G ready feature on the Media5-fone last year, and they are just waiting for Apple’s approval for activation. This change will allow Media5-fone users to benefit from mobile VoIP using not only conventional Wi-Fi networks but also from 3G Networks.
Media5 has stated that they expect the approval from Apple for this application soon. New users can purchase the Media5-fone directly from the Apple App Store once the approval has been given. Existing users will be informed about this through the iTunes or AppStore on their iPhone (News - Alert) or iPod Touch device.
Once the updated Media5-fone is installed, the user will be able to configure the settings to allow the App to connect or not on 3G when Wi-Fi is unavailable. Media5-fone has built-in capability to scan for a Wi-Fi hotspot and then connect to it as soon as possible so that users always get the best connection.
Recently, Media5 started Beta testing Mediatrix SDK and successfully tested interoperability of SIP Softphone.
