Bandwidth.com Announces the Public Beta of its Phonebooth OnDemand System

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

Business communications provider, Bandwidth.com (News - Alert), has reportedly unveiled the public beta of its next-generation cloud phone system, Phonebooth OnDemand.

The company also announced its plan to demonstrate its new phone system at the Internet Summit in Raleigh, NC.

According to Bandwidth.com officials, Phonebooth OnDemand is a web-based, business phone system that gives its customers the features, reliability and voice quality, without any hassle, unlike the traditional phone systems. The system is built from the ground-up by Bandwidth.com, and takes advantage of Bandwidth.com's nationwide CLEC network.

Some of the key advantage of the Phonebooth OnDemand system, company officials said, is that for just $20 per user per month, customers will have the facility to enjoy unlimited local and long-distance, and all features including conferencing and auto-attendant. Moreover, for companies from five to 100 employees, the three-year total cost of ownership, or “TCO,” of Phonebooth OnDemand is said to beat a premise-based PBX (News - Alert).

“Phonebooth OnDemand has been designed to be simple to buy and simple to use. The pricing model is so straightforward that you can configure your Phonebooth package on-line in a few seconds at Phonebooth.net,” company official said.

Mentioning about the Web 2.0 admin interface, the company official said that it is so intuitive that if one can surf the web, and also can manage Phonebooth OnDemand. Users have to just set-up an Auto Attendant in minutes, with the brand-new visual interface.

Regarding quality of the system, the company claims that its Phonebooth OnDemand supports HD Voice for on-network calls on Bandwidth.com's nationwide voice network. Key advantage mentioned here is that users can talk to their co-workers, or other Phonebooth customers, with twice the audio fidelity of a standard phone call.

Moreover, at time of power or internet connectivity loss, Phonebooth OnDemand stays up being a cloud-based service. In such a situation, customers are advised to simply log-in to Phonebooth OnDemand from another location, and forward their phones to their cell phone until their office is back online.

Phonebooth OnDemand is hosted in multiple, fully redundant data centers across the nation. The company claims that its new system is a perfect fit with a modern, mobile work style. Its voicemail to e-mail feature actually transcribes voicemails, and sends users both the audio file and text transcription to their e-mail address. Additionally, the Find-me-follow-me feature is said to allow users to have their office number forwarded directly to a mobile phone, based on user-defined rules.

The company also clarified that its pre-provisioned Phonebooth software phone which will be made available from January 2010, will allow users to call from anywhere, and still appear that they are sitting in your office.
