Verizon Devices and Applications Help Small Businesses to Function Efficiently

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Verizon Wireless reportedly announced that its wireless devices can help small businesses be efficiently managed with the addition of appropriate applications.

The Motorola (News - Alert) Adventure V750, for instance, is suitable for use indoors, as well as outside. This rugged device can become a tool with quick dispatch capability and turn-by-turn navigation. Customers can subscribe to Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless Push to Talk and VZ Navigator to derive maximum benefit from this device.

Another application, the Verizon Wireless G’zOne Boulder, is built according to military specifications and can withstand extreme shock, water and dusty environments. The Push to Talk feature facilitates quick access which helps the user to complete tasks rapidly and efficiently.

Verizon listed several resources and applications designed to benefit small businesses. This includes Miles to Go, which provides users with a convenient way to track their car’s mileage and oil changes besides estimating the yearly mileage, vehicle recalls and alerts. Employers can keep track of company vehicles and also maintain them well.

The Time Card application lets employees clock in/clock out, indicate that they are on a break and also choose their current job from a list of tasks, job numbers or customer names. Meanwhile, the Field Force Manager is a location-based mobile resource management tool which helps businesses to locate, monitor and communicate with their mobile field workers. The application helps business managers to gain insight into their mobile resources. This lets them assign the right jobs to the right people, leading to greater customer satisfaction and improved productivity.

Verizon said that the three applications can be downloaded to wireless phones. The phones are available online on the company Web site. By combining the features of the rugged phones and resourceful applications employers can benefit a lot by making their wireless phones more productive, the company said.

Customers can subscribe to Push to Talk, VZ Navigator on a monthly basis. Miles to Go and Time Card can be downloaded through the Media Center/Get It Now on Verizon Wireless phones.

The company also said that business customers can select from three different packages of Field Force Manager, which is also available the Verizon Web site. Airtime, data usage and messaging fees may apply during download and use of the application.
