NTT Communications Selects Infinera for New IP backbone NetworkBy Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor NTT Communications Corporation, a global provider of information and communications technology solutions, has selected Infinera (News - Alert) for its new IP backbone network in the Tokyo Metropolitan area.
Leveraging Infinera's Digital Optical Networks, the new network will deliver a broader range of services with greater speed and flexibility to Internet Service Providers.
NTT (News - Alert) Com officials said that the unique digital intelligence of the Infinera Digital Optical Networks was one of the main reasons behind the company selecting it.
According to official it will enable the NTT Com network to achieve large capacity and network flexibility at reduced operating expenditure.
NTT Com will now be able to achieve a simplified and effective network that is expandable and able to meet increased growth in traffic, according to the company.
"The Infinera network will help NTT Com meet its customers' needs with great speed and flexibility," said Yoshimasa Tokui, senior vice president, Network Business Division of NTT Com, in a statement.
Jagdeep Singh CEO Infinera said that his company is delighted to have been chosen by NTT Com as the platform for its new Tokyo Metropolitan IP backbone network.
Singh said that this win reflects Infinera's continued momentum with tier-one service providers worldwide. Infinera's next generation technology will help NTT Com fulfill its vision of becoming the ICT solution partner of choice for business customers and accommodate rapidly growing bandwidth demand in Japan, while delivering the highest-quality services to all its customers, he added.
Infinera provides Digital Optical Networking systems to telecommunications carriers worldwide. Infinera's claims that its systems are unique in their use of a breakthrough semiconductor technology: the photonic integrated circuit (PIC).
