Smoothstone Exceeds VoIP Industry Growth ProjectionsBy Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor IP communications provider Smoothstone has announced that the company has achieved a growth rate which is more than double the VoIP industry’s projected growth rate of 20.1 percent. Smoothstone (News - Alert) achieved 48.7 percent growth in revenues within the first six months of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008.
Smoothstone believes that a major reason for company’s impressive growth is the growth of unified communications as a major strategic technology. Since VoIP has emerged as an inexpensive alternative to traditional landlines, unified communications has received significant boost in business. Also, due to recession, companies are forced to look for ways to consolidate tools and services to work with fewer vendors.
The company also believes that its impressive growth is mainly because of a combination of a consistent sales closure rate of 70 percent and superior customer service, which has provided 99 percent customer retention rate.
“The current recession and the economic challenges companies are facing have created an opportunity for us to help medium-sized companies lower their costs by moving to IP telephony," observed James Whitemore, chief marketing officer. "Even as the economy recovers, though, we fully expect to sustain above-average growth because we offer our customers not only a cost-effective solution for voice communications, we deliver fully-managed unified IP communications.”
Smoothstone provides specifically tailored solutions to its customers. This includes providing VoIP services for medium size enterprises. The company has been in the market since its early days in 2000 and believes that it can be ahead of the curve in being able to provide a comprehensive suite of Unified Communications (News - Alert) solutions.
Recently, the company entered into a strategic alliance with integrated telecom manager Cynergy to provide an enhanced range of hosted IP communications services. This partnership will allow Smoothstone to combine its industry experience in managed IP services with Cynergy's comprehensive strategy for designing and managing telecom solutions. Offering Cynergy customers with on-demand support and network management, Smoothstone will eliminate the need for multiple vendors. Raju Shanbhag is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
