NET Taps SMX as Premier Japanese Distribution Partner

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Network Equipment Technologies Inc. has announced the selection of Sumitomo Shoji Machinex (SMX) as its premier Japanese distribution partner. This partnership is expected to help facilitate the expansion of NET’s (News - Alert) existing partner networks.

Owned by the Sumitomo Corporation Group, SMX provides optimal business solutions in the areas of machinery, telecommunications, electronics and building services. According to NET, SMX was selected due to the company’s ability to efficiently deliver UC solutions to channel reseller partners. SMX also offers extensive knowledge, skills and expertise in the communications industry.

This selection is part of NET’s new global channel partner program, which includes three distinct distribution partner levels: premier, advanced and member. The program also includes a category for strategic UC partners. All levels have been designed with specific requirements and benefits to enable partners to leverage and be rewarded for their NET product knowledge and solution support expertise.

“NET is pleased to be partnering with Sumitomo Shoji Machinex in order to expand our route to market for our innovative unified communications products,” said Franois Le, vice president of worldwide sales at NET, in a statement. “By partnering with SMX, NET channel resellers will be able to leverage SMX's extensive networking and enterprise IP products expertise and solution support to help customers build their UC networks.”

NET has also extensively expanded its dedicated sales, marketing and technical support model as part of this partner-enablement strategy. This step is made in an effort to support these high-quality partnerships.

“As SMX continues to build its portfolio of communication solutions, NET's voice switches and gateway products are a natural fit,” said Mitsuyoshi Daimon, general manager of ICT Solutions Dept at Sumitomo Shoji Machinex. “Our partners will benefit from complete solutions incorporating NET's full range of products supported by our extensive assessment, integration, and implementation services and our vertical market, virtualization, and security practices.”

With a strategic focus on growth in its industry, NET has been busy testing the interoperability of solutions. The company recently announced the completion of interoperability testing between its Voice Exchange Series and General Dynamics secure telephony devices.

NET is also slated as a Gold Partner for the upcoming TMC ITEXPO, which will be held Sept. 1-3, 2009 in Los Angeles.
