Verizon Gets New Notification CapabilitiesBy Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor Helping its customers manage their data and voice communications services, Verizon has introduced Verizon (News - Alert) Enterprise Center Mobile – a tool that’s designed to help people receive and access information in near-real time on a mobile device.
Companies often use voice and Internet services from various vendors, and there is a need to manage all of them securely and seamlessly for administrative and security purposes. Solutions such as Verizon Enterprise Center allow the companies to do just that by providing a secure one-stop portal to the customers.
With Verizon Enterprise Center Mobile service, administrators can log in to their account from a mobile device to monitor network alarms. It also allows them to create and track trouble tickets, initiate circuit tests, obtain scheduled circuit maintenance event notifications, access network performance statistics, and directly query their network inventory.
“Customer self-service has never been more simple, customizable and portable,” said Tom Vitale, vice president of global CPE and cross-product support for Verizon. “We’ve mobilized the applications available through the Verizon Enterprise Center so our customers can receive the information they need - when, where and how they want to receive it. We are committed to delivering the command and control resources that save our customers time.”
With the help of Verizon Enterprise Center Notification Rules, customers can request a desktop alert about the status of repair tickets. This facility was previously available only via e-mail or pager. The desktop alert is available while the user is logged in to the portal. Users can also be notified when their trouble ticket has been resolved with an automated voice delivery option.
Recently, the company introduced an expanded set of tools to help parents exercise control over the phone usage of their children so they can better administer their wireless exposure. With these new Usage Controls, parents can control the number of text messages sent and the kind of content that is being viewed or downloaded.
