Telco Systems Intros T-Marc 280

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Telco Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of BATM Advanced Communications, has reportedly unveiled T-Marc 280, a part of T-Marc’s family of intelligent, remotely-managed demarcation devices.

According to the company, this new cost-optimized Carrier Ethernet demarcation device is designed to address provisioning and management capabilities of an Ethernet service, delivering managed converged services (voice, video and data) over virtual Ethernet in a metro Ethernet network.

“The T-Marc 280 bridges the gap between the company’s popular T-Marc 250 Series and T-Marc 300 Series to provide a feature-rich, service demarcation solution at an extremely attractive price point,” stated Manu Kaycee, vice president for service provider marketing at Telco Systems (News - Alert).

Built to serve both commercial and residential areas, the T-Marc 280’s supports standards-based management to enable service providers to use any off-the-shelf management system to manage a T-Marc device as an independent network element with its own IP address.

Its access port can be used to create a DMZ (demilitarized zone or data management zone) to separate external (public) traffic from the customer’s internal network, supporting single EVC and UNI with four traffic classes. Dual network uplinks include an SFP-based fiber and a combo tri-speed/fiber port. The dual network ports provide a rich set of protection options, including link aggregation, resilient, link, and Spanning Tree protocols, says the company.

In addition, to reduce operational expenses and scale management to large access networks, the company’s existing standard based SNMP management is coupled with existing IEEE (News - Alert) 802.3ah OAM standards into a proxy-based management solution to provide proactive health and status information on individual links and connections.

Kaycee concluded by saying, “We based its technology on current IEEE, ITU-T and IETF standards to ensure interoperability with the provider’s current infrastructure.”

Telco Systems provides multi-service Carrier Ethernet access and transport solutions that enable the evolution to a service-assured all IP/Ethernet/MPLS network for Carriers, MSO's, Service providers, Municipalities and enterprise markets. Company also provides custom-designed products for many well-known Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
