Agilent Demonstrates WiMAX test Solutions

By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor

Agilent Technologies has demonstrated its full range of WiMAX (News - Alert) test solutions at Singapore’s Suntec Covention Centre during the course of WiMAX Forum Asia Congress 09.

The offerings cover a broad spectrum of functionalities that include all phases of a product’s life cycle such as wireless design library, simulation, characterization, and evaluation aids for research and development, and tools for generation, detection, demodulation, and troubleshooting related signals during design validation and pre-conformance based on available WiMAX standards.
The solutions also enable interoperability testing for conformance with third party WiMAX equipment, which is a non-negotiable prerequisite for WiMAX Forum (News - Alert) certification and in accordance with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers standard designated as 802.16e 2005, during pilot runs and mass manufacturing. Its measuring devices guarantee network deployment with correct and optimized installation at customer premises, and service assurance with enhanced troubleshooting techniques.
These test solutions go a long way in assisting design houses and manufacturers to attain the all important WiMAX Forum stamp of approval, as TMCnet reported, which alerts prospective customers that the devices meets standards, operates easily with other similarly stamped Wi-B (News - Alert) access products from multiple vendors, and is cost-effective. It also guarantees providing efficient transmission to overcome network sluggishness occasionally experienced in the final stages of connectivity.
"Agilent's (News - Alert) participation in the WiMAX Forum Congress reinforces our commitment to the success of WiMAX," said C. J. Meurell, general manager of Wireless Systems, Agilent. "Our leadership and dedication to meet the needs and issues not fully addressed by other test solutions on the market will empower today's engineers to create a new range of WiMAX-based communication possibilities."
Among its products on display are the Agilent N5182A MXG vector signal generator that is best suited for the R&D, design review and manufacturing phases, and the N7615B Signal Studio for WiMAX Release 1.5 that supports Wave 2 testing.
The new Agilent E6651A Mobile WiMAX test set includes security enhancements and has support for mobile and base station handover, sleep and idle settings, and all the lifecycle tests required.
Agilent's N9020A MXA Signal Analyzer is in mid-range, performs flexible signal and spectrum analysis to existing and LTE (News - Alert) standards. It integrates with Wave 2 and 2x2 MIMO standard measurements.
