MegaPath Announces Ethernet Over Copper Solutions

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributing Editor

MegaPath (News - Alert) Inc. has announced its new MegaPath Ethernet over Copper solution, which will provide reliable and cost-effective 10 megabits per second (Mbps) Internet access.

High-capacity bandwidth will be delivered to buildings that do not have access to fiber connections or where DS3 connectivity is cost-prohibitive through the existing copper infrastructure. This broadband connection from MegaPath will provide organizations with increased performance. This will in turn support multiple users, Web sites and enterprise applications. MegaPath provides managed IP communications services in North America. Flexible, cost-effective and scalable IP VPN, voice and security solutions are provided by MegaPath with the high-quality service and support.

The Ethernet service from MegaPath is supported by redundant U.S.-based Network Operation Centers. These Network Operation Centers ensure 99.9 percent availability. Customers do not have to purchase any new equipment to use this new Ethernet service. Quick installation, which eliminates upfront expenses and downtime during the provisioning process, is a benefit of the MegaPath Ethernet service.

The Ethernet service from MegaPath is backed by service-level agreements that guarantee reliability and 24x7 monitoring and support services. Customers will also be provided with online access to a web portal for simplified billing and account management. MegaPath allows enterprises to minimize their network and IT expenses by offering them multiple access methods, modular security offerings, industry-specific application support and end-to-end management options.

Users of MegaPath’s Ethernet service will be provided with the following:

10Mbps x 10Mbps symmetrical bandwidth
Business class router
50 email accounts
100 MB of Web space
10 GB of data transfer for the web space per month
Domain Name Server for one domain
One static IP
Up to 13 extra static IPs
Redundant, U.S.-based Network Operation Centers

According to Beth Tyebjee, senior vice president of marketing at MegaPath, “As companies look to their wide-area networks and Internet connections to support critical business applications, MegaPath is working to deliver the greatest number of options for cost-effectively increasing productivity. With our new Ethernet over copper service, MegaPath is again expanding our offerings to provide customers the flexibility to choose the connection speed and value-added services to best support their business objectives.”
