By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Dialcom (News - Alert) has been positioned by Gartner Inc. in the visionaries’ quadrant in the 2008 Magic Quadrant for Web Conferencing. Dialcom provides premise based, real-time video communication, collaboration and multimedia sharing capabilities over IP.
These capabilities, which are provided over IP are seamless and secure and can be between any device, network and any user. Dialcom is headquartered in Herndon, Virginia.
“We believe Gartner’s (News - Alert) positioning of Dialcom in the visionaries’ quadrant is confirmation that we have shown innovation in our product development,” said Bob Johnson, president and COO of Dialcom. “Our expansion into North America will continue to provide us with new opportunities for growth within the market, especially as unified communication becomes an increasingly important technology for the enterprise.”
The flagship product from Dialcom, Spontania Unified Collaboration Suite, is a complete collaborative platform for the enterprise. The Spontania platform is an adaptable, scalable, and easy to administer, on-premise, software-only solution. It enables many-to-many interactive voice, video and data collaboration sessions on the most common devices such as PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, fixed phones and SIP devices.
Customers of Spontania will be able to join video and web conferences, teleconference over the Internet, exchange IM and email to set up conferences spontaneously, share presentations and write on a shared white board. It controls bandwidth automatically and integrates seamlessly into the existing IT infrastructure. The Spontania unified collaboration suite is being used by more than 100 customers in a variety of industries.
The Magic Quadrant is a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. This graphical representation will depict an analysis of how vendors measure against the criteria for that marketplace. The Magic Quadrant is not intended to be a specific guide. It is intended solely as a research tool.
A company is positioned in the Gartner Magic Quadrant based on its ability to execute as well as completeness of vision. According to Gartner, “Visionaries typically have an important, unique or well-developed technical capability and provide key elements of innovation that illustrate the future of the market. However, they have not yet developed sales and support capabilities to address or influence the complete market.”
