Melexis Selects Verizon Business Fully Managed IP Network

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Belgium-based Melexis has announced that it has selected a fully managed IP network from Verizon Business (News - Alert) to enhance its global communications capabilities.

Melexis is a semiconductor supplier for the automotive industry. Verizon Private IP is expected to connect more than 800 Melexis employees at 12 locations in Asia, Europe and the U.S.

The fully managed network also offers a firm foundation on which the company can deploy future advanced IP communications, including voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) applications.

Melexis explained that its operations were dispersed globally and it was facing increasing competition worldwide. Thus, the company decided to consolidate its communications with a single supplier to improve network management and efficiencies.

Melexis wanted to focus on customers and give the complete management of its network to a trusted partner. Moreover, Melexis was seeking a scalable infrastructure with high levels of speed and low latency, and also wanted a platform to support its future IP-based services.

“Our communications infrastructure is the nerve-center of our business and must have the reliability and global reach to effectively support the central enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and other business-critical applications integral to our development and production processes,” said Koen Bosmans, global network manager at Melexis.

He stated that with Verizon Private IP, his company is able to streamline dataflow for maximum business efficiency today, as well as plan for the next stage of their IP-based business growth.

Verizon Business, a unit of Verizon Communications, operates a well connected public IP network and uses its global-network capabilities to offer solutions to large-business and government customers.

“For companies whose global communications is business-critical, a managed infrastructure can be a real competitive advantage. Verizon Business offers proven IP-based global communications and IT solutions,” said Nicholas De Walsche, sales director for Belgium and Luxembourg at Verizon Business.

The Melexis integrates advanced IP communications and information technology (IT) products and services to deliver enterprise solutions including managed services, security, mobility, collaboration and professional services.

Verizon Business recently unveiled a new set of professional services aimed at helping enterprises make the most of virtualized environments. The company also announced that it has earned the top designation as a provider of VMware technology.
