Dialogic Intros IMG 1004 Integrated Media Gateway

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Dialogic (News - Alert) Corporation, a global provider of world-class products and technologies for media and signal processing, has introduced the Dialogic IMG 1004 integrated Media Gateway.

This carrier-grade VoIP gateway supports both media and signaling in a single chassis for low-density applications. The company has also announced the availability of a new Dialogic IMG system software release (10.5.0).

The IMG is designed to provide any-to-any voice network connectivity with a carrier-grade scalable 1U platform, and robust manageability features configurable for high availability.

The IMG 1004 delivers the VoIP gateway features of the field-proven Dialogic IMG 1010, to the low density gateway market. As a result, services providers are able to add new telephony services quickly, while also providing them with a clear migration path to an all-IP network.

Working in tandem with the IMG 1010, the IMG 1004 delivers SIP services into legacy PRI, CAS, and SS7 networks. The solution also is designed to facilitate IP-to-IP transcoding for network peering applications.

The IMG 10.5.0 System Software Release is designed to provide a suite of manageability features that includes a new Node Wizard set-up utility, graceful upgrade to new software for IMG networks and improved alerting functions.

The ability to expand the rich variety of transcoding capabilities of the IMG platform is also included in the IMG 10.5.0 System Software Release. This is possible with the addition of GSM and G.726 codecs that enable applications in mobile wireless and international trunking environments.

"We have been pleased with the responsiveness of Dialogic in enhancing its Integrated Media Gateway Family to meet our needs," says Tom Stahr, director of software architecture at Prairie Interactive Messaging (News - Alert), a CSG Company, in a Monday statement.

"We had customers that needed to collect subscriber information on incoming calls to a call center. Dialogic added an ISDN UUII to SIP translation feature to the Integrated Media Gateway Family that meets this need and will allow us to meet the needs of multiple call center customers."

“The new IMG 1004 is an ideal solution for our customers offering VoIP services that require connectivity between TDM and IP networks, or between two incompatible TDM or IP networks,” stated James Besley, senior vice president of sales and support for Dialogic, in Monday’s statement.

“We are very pleased that our portfolio of IP products continues to grow, enabling our partners to create even more innovative communications solutions.”

Dialogic will be exhibiting the new IMG 1004 platform and the IMG 10.5.0 System Software Release at Booth 2.1B81 at the 3GSM (News - Alert) World Congress, to be held February 11-14, 2008 in Barcelona.

As VoIP continues to be the preferred communications infrastructure for companies throughout the world, the need for connectivity between TDM and IP networks will continue to grow, thus creating significant opportunities for companies such as Dialogic.

The company has done well to introduce a solution that specifically addresses challenges that companies face not only in integration, but also in everyday operations. In doing so, Dialogic helps to drive demand for its solutions as well as its market saturation.
