Avaya Now Part of Telecom Networks Framework Agreement
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Avaya (News - Alert) Inc., a global provider of business communications applications, software and services, has announced that it has been selected as a supplier on the Telecom Networks Framework agreement created and managed by OGCbuying.solutions. This organization is the trading arm of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), part of the United Kingdom's HM Treasury.
Under the framework agreement, customers throughout the UK public sector will be able to place orders directly with Avaya to obtain the company’s voice-over IP (VoIP ) telephony products. Customers will also have access to a host of other solutions that are designed to create a converged voice and data network, all under standard terms and conditions that have been previously agreed upon.
"The award of this contract helps underscore Avaya's leadership in converged communications and VoIP telephony, which are high on the Transformational Government Agenda and therefore the wish-list of private and public sector organizations alike," said Jonathan Buckle, head of public sector, Avaya UK, in a Wednesday statement.
"We look forward to building on Avaya's long history of innovation and working to help new public sector customers better manage their resources - and deliver impactful new
services that reflect the needs and concerns of citizens," Buckle concluded.
Avaya can now sell all products within the Avaya portfolio according to the Catalist framework agreement. Products from key global partners Extreme Networks (News - Alert) and Juniper will also be offered. In addition, the company will deliver implementation and support services through its Global Services organization.
Being selected to take part in the Telecom Networks Framework agreement is a significant step for Avaya. While already a strong leader in the international marketplace, this selection gives the company an even better market position in the UK. As a result, the company can build on its success in this area, while customers can benefit from direct access to Avaya solutions.
With Avaya converged communications products now available to customers in the UK, public sector organizations will have the ability to leverage robust software and hardware to create and manage state-of-the-art citizen communications.
OGCbuying.solutions was launched on April 1 of 2000 as a result of a review of civil procurement in Central Government. The organization aims to achieve substantial value for money improvements in the Government’s procurement budget and to oversee and implement the Government’s wider Efficiency Review across the entire public sector.
Ultimately, the organization provides public sector procurement professionals with a route to the products and services they need to maximize procurement efficiency and value for money.
