Packet8 Tango Videophone Service Connects Santa with Hospitalized Children
By Stefania Viscusi, TMCnet Assistant Editor
VoIP services provider, 8X8 Inc. is again lifting the holiday spirits of hospitalized children by offering a 4th year of "Videophone Visits with Santa."
With the visits, children are able to talk to Santa via a video conference from his "North Pole" workshop with Packet8 Tango videophone service.
The service is being offered to children's hospitals throughout the U.S. and will connect children from their hospital room or a patient lounge.
"With the Packet8 Tango videophone, our pediatric patients can still enjoy the holiday tradition of visiting with Santa even if they are confined to a bed," said Kitty O'Brien, Clinical Manager at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
"I wish more people had the privilege that I have of seeing the children's smiles, looks of amazement, and feelings of pride that occur both during and after their conversations with Santa. We are very grateful to 8x8 ( News - Alert) for providing yet another holiday season of joy for our patients and families at Cincinnati Children's."
The video sessions are followed by delivery of requested toys and gifts and will include:
- Cincinnati Children's Hospital - Cincinnati, OH
-- Miami Children's Hospital - Miami, FL
-- Johns Hopkins Children's Medical Center - Baltimore, MD
-- Barbara Bush Children's Hospital - Portland, ME
-- Schneider's Children's Hospital - Long Island, NY
-- Shriner's Hospital for Children - Tampa, FL
-- Vanderbilt Children's Hospital - Nashville, TN
Thanks to the Packet8 Tango Video Terminal Adapter (VTA), which includes a built-in LCD screen, a home phone can easily be turned into a high quality videophone complete with advanced H.264 video, for quality that makes the experience an especially memorable one.
