Internode Supports Acme Packet's NodePhone2 VoIP Service
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Acme Packet’s (News - Alert) Net-Net session border controller (SBCs) has been deployed by Australian broadband provider Internode to support its recently launched NodePhone2 VoIP service.
BroadSoft (News - Alert) BroadWorks are also deployed along with Acme Packet’s SBCs. BroadSoft BroadWorks is a VoIP application software platform that streamlined the planning and delivery process for Internode's new service.
NodePhone2 is Internode’s second generation VoIP service for business and residential customers throughout Australia. This service has been launched 18 months after the roll out of its Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) outbound-only NodePhone1 service.
Thanks to NodePhone2, subscribers can now both receive and make calls over the PSTN as well as over Internode’s IP network to other NodePhone2 subscribers. All NodePhone calls are transported on Internode's fully redundant, private IP national network.
Leveraging Acme Packet's SBCs, Internode’s NodePhone2 VoIP solution maximizes its service reach, protect the NodePhone network against malicious attacks and assure high service quality.
Acme Packet’s Net-SAFE security features ensure that Internode’s private IP network is both secure and available to provide IP interactive communication services. Using Acme Packet’s QoS reporting features Internode can monitor the quality of every NodePhone call by reporting media statistics. Internode can thus detect and isolate quality-impacting problems. Subscribers located behind firewalls are served by NodePhone2 through the Hosted NAT traversal without requiring any changes at the customer site.
“Acme Packet was the correct choice for our session border control needs due to its industry-leading feature set, carrier-class scale and performance as well as proven success as BroadSoft's Premier Access Solution partner,” said Jim Kellett, NodePhone product manager of Internode, in a press release.
He continued: “A number of customers have come to Internode after experiencing low-quality VoIP services elsewhere. With Acme Packet's SBCs, we can deliver NodePhone2 with guaranteed call quality to meet the needs of both business and residential customers.”
