Accenture/Telcordia to Deliver Telemar�s End-to-End Service Fulfillment Solution

Telemar, one of South America’s largest fixed-line and mobile operators, has selected Telcordia Technologies and Accenture to deliver an end-to-end service fulfillment solution to enable mission-critical enterprise data services and consumer broadband. Telemar has embarked on an ambitious, multi-organizational project for transforming its order management and provisioning processes of which this solution is the latest phase.
As leader of the integration of the Telemar project, Accenture will provide application development support and ongoing assistance through the management and alignment of technology resources and solutions. Telcordia’s suite of products will be used to replace Telemar’s legacy order management systems while also integrating the new solution into the existing CRM system to result in a complete order-to-cash fulfillment process.
As a multi-phase project, the new solution is expected to provide all order management, inventory, and configuration and activation functions needed for these services. As a result of this project, Telemar will be able to automate the provisioning process for a wide range of advanced data offerings with the potential to produce faster delivery of new services to the market and reductions in operating costs. To help drive the effective integration of Telcordia products, Telemar will leverage Accenture Communications Solutions knowledge assets in the OSS space.
The Telcordia Fulfillment Suite, including Telcordia Granite Inventory and Telcordia Expediter, are considered to be critical components as Telemar establishes a foundation to transform its operations and position itself to deliver exciting new services.
Paulo Goncalves, CTO, Telemar, commented that the operator continues its record of innovation, providing corporate and residential customers with the highest quality services as they are key to growth and profitability for Telemar. Telcordia and Accenture’s track record of reliability in delivering this scale and breadth in an Operations Support System solution was fundamental to Telemar’s selection.
Goncalves added that having Telcordia’s open and flexible service fulfillment environment paired with Accenture’s understanding of telecommunications business processes will enable Telemar to rapidly develop new IP-based services for its customers and deliver them in a cost-effective and accessible manner.
Dan Mikesell, Vice President – Latin America, Telcordia, contributed that Telemar is moving aggressively to offer 111 services that its customers are demanding. By delivering the right mix of services in a timely manner, Telemar can reduce customer churn and increase the average revenue per user.
According to Mikesell, the Telcordia Fulfillment Suite enables wireline and wireless operators to execute complex business service requests for its customers without the delay and errors that result from manual processes. Through the implementation of a comprehensive solution from Telcordia, Telemar will enjoy a lower total cost of ownership versus point solutions from multiple vendors.
Henrique Washington, senior executive in the Accenture Communications & High Tech group in Brazil, noted that this engagement demonstrates how a significant service provider such as Telemar is proactively addressing the impact of migration to IP networks and also renewing its OSS suite for all other networks at the same time. The combination of Accenture and Telcordia will help facilitate Telemar’s business objectives of rolling out advances data services to market more rapidly and economically.
Brazil is an interesting market in that the economical environment is prime for development and expansion. Companies are viewing this region as the optimal location for their contact centers in particular due to the available low cost real estate and talent pool as well as the competitive environment.
With the opportunities that the Brazilian market can provide, Telemar is implementing a strategy that enable the company to maximize on area growth as well as provide better service offerings to existing customers.
