PhoneGnome Now Compatible With Skype
By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor
PhoneGnome users rejoice! The PSTN-to-VoIP solution is now compatible with Skype.
For those not familiar with PhoneGnome, it’s a system (hardware device plus subscription service) that brings VoIP features and function to any landline phone number without requiring that the user change his or her phone service.
PhoneGnome’s developer, TelEvolution, announced today in a press release the introduction of the system’s newest feature, GnomeLink, which enables users “to call Skype ( News - Alert) users from their PhoneGnome-enabled home phone, and to answer Skype calls on their PhoneGnome-enabled home phone.”
In the press release, PhoneGnome developer David Beckemeyer commented that “GnomeLink is another step towards allowing people to make calls any way that they choose to.”
Beckemeyer added: “Our goal with the PhoneGnome product family has always been to bring all telephony worlds together -- PhoneGnome calls, ordinary PSTN calls and SIP calls, all on your regular home phone. With GnomeLink we've added the Skype community into the mix.”
GnomeLink, which is a free added feature for PhoneGnome users, is now in public beta.
