Metaphor Launches IVR Applications for iPhone

Voice enabled mobile applications are gaining popularity because of their extended use in Web 2.0 applications such as navigation and collaboration. The technology also reduces user’s effort to enter name and address data and dial a number even while they are driving.

 

Metaphor Solutions, a company that provides Web 2.0 interactive voice response solutions for businesses and voice-enabled mobile applications, reportedly has introduced two new voice recognition applications for iPhone (News - Alert).

 

The two new applications, SayNDrive and SayNDial, speed up the input of names and addresses to mobile phones compared to typing, Metaphor said. They’re available for download in Apple’s (News - Alert) iTunes AppStore.

 

SayNDrive is a navigation feature that allows users to say a U.S.-based destination address and get both the route and directions from where they are, says Metaphor. Using this application, users can also search from over 10,000 business categories like movie showtimes, hotels, pharmacies, restaurants, gas stations near their current locations and get directions to the selected business locations.

 

SayNDial is reportedly a voice dialer application that allows users to say the full name, first name, last name, or company name for someone in their contact list, to automatically dial their number. This method of voice dialing is faster than thumbing through a customer’s contacts and it is safer to use while driving.

 

According to Metaphor, SayNDrive is now one of the top paid applications in the Navigation section of the AppStore. Metaphor is now planning to launch new consumer as well as enterprise voice recognition applications for the iPhone and other mobile platforms.

 

Metaphor offers voice enabled mobile applications through its Plug & Play Web site, which the company claims as the largest selection of plug & play speech IVR solutions in the industry with complete lifecycle management, all on the Web.

 

These solutions are available for both inbound and outbound calls. They also include hosted PBX (News - Alert) or ACD features. Metaphor offers Rapid Application Development tools and resources for mainstream developers to manage speech applications throughout their life cycle.
