FCC helps Verizon 'listen' to customers
(UPI Business News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Verizon Communications Inc. is dropping a so-called supplier surcharge on its high-speed Internet service for retail customers.
The move comes less than a week after the Federal Communications Commission asked the company to explain the reason for the charge, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
BellSouth Corp. took similar action regarding its $2.97-per-month fee late last week after getting a similar inquiry from the FCC.
We have listened to our customers and are eliminating this charge in response to their concerns, Bob Ingalls, chief marketing officer for Verizon Telecom, said in a statement.
