Vocalocity Introduces New Features for its VocalocityPBX Service

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Vocalocity, a provider of hosted PBX (News - Alert) VoIP services and infrastructure applications for small businesses, has introduced new features for its VocalocityPBX service that enable managers and coworkers to see the real time status of all extensions in their organization.

Company officials said that the new features, VocalocityPBX Dashboard, allow phone administrators to create customized views organized by user and status, in an easy-to-use interface similar to popular instant messaging services.

This provides all users with an at-a-glance view of the people in their organization or on their team, along with the status and availability of the user.

"The Dashboard may not seem like a groundbreaking feature for a lot of people, but it's significant for our customers and their ability to work more efficiently," said David Politis, executive vice president and general manager, Vocalocity (News - Alert).

Politis said that this feature allows the customers to use their hosted VoIP system more effectively, enabling them to see who is on the phone or who is available in real-time, as well as if they want to take a call or route it to someone else in the organization.

In addition, managers can use the Dashboard to monitor employee phone use, such as how long a team member has been on the phone or who they are on the phone with.

"Our customers want more visibility into their call activity, and Dashboard is a big step in the right direction for them," said Politis.

Politis also said that customers like to be able to control everything about their phone system and that the new dashboard really enables customers to work more efficiently, and gives managers a lot of tools at their disposal for monitoring and managing worker productivity.

“A lot of vendors would use a service like this as an excuse to increase rates or up sell customers, for Vocalocity, we just see it as a way to add more value to our customer relationship. So far, it's working. Our customers are very excited about these new features," said Politis.

Back in January, Vocalocity announced that it has raised $4.1 million in Series B (News - Alert) financing. TechOperators, an Atlanta-based venture capital firm, was the lead investor in this second round of funding, with participation from existing investors Noro-Moseley Partners, Pittco Capital Partners, Imlay Partners and members of the Vocalocity management team.
