Aastra Announces Two New SIP Phone ModelsBy Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributing Editor Ontario, Canada-based Aastra has announced it expanded its SIP desktop and wireless phone portfolio by adding two new models of SIP phones, Model 6730i and Model 6731i.
The new models offer enterprise-grade advanced features and performance that are typically found in higher priced models. The new models are powered by the open-standards firmware design found on all Aastra (News - Alert) 67xi SIP telephones.
Perfect for both SMBs and home-based applications, the new models have six lines with call display, full duplex speakerphone as well as excellent voice quality, intercom, paging and auto answer features. In addition, they also have XML browser capabilities.
“We feel that in today’s business environment, these cost effective additions to our portfolio of SIP telephones will be well received by the market,” said Marcus Junthe, head of Product Management at Aastra Telecom (News - Alert) Middle East.
“Aastra has one of the most complete portfolios of SIP desktop phones for our customers and demonstrates its on-going commitment to open standards. We continually improve our offering by the addition of new models”
As with other Aastra systems, the new models are interoperable with Aastra’s own IP systems as well as other certified solutions, including Broadsoft, Metaswitch, Nortel and Digium’s Asterisk (News - Alert) Business Edition.
Earlier this month, Aastra also announced that its 675xi Line of SIP Phones is interoperable with MX-ONE IP-PBX (News - Alert).
Like the other models in the 675xi series, the new models are equipped with embedded XML browser capability which provides access to customized services and productivity enhancing applications. Through the XML browser it becomes easy to create custom menus, customized call feature interactions, and even vertical applications
Aastra boasts more than 50 million installed lines around the world and a direct and indirect presence in more than 100 countries. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of unified communications solutions ranging from feature-rich call managers for small and medium businesses to highly scalable ones for large enterprises as well as integrated mobility and call center solutions for a wide selection of terminals.
