The University of Connecticut
reportedly has selected Rave Alert as its emergency notification platform – a technology that’s expected to improve campus safety by making important announcements through text messages, e-mail, RSS feeds, recorded voice messages, digital signage and instant messaging.
With the platform, messages are created and sent from a Web console, with complete reporting on message delivery and performance.
Rave Alert was selected by UConn after conducting an evaluation and comparison of vendors.
In a test, a broadcast text message was sent to more than 16,500 recipients whose mobile phone numbers had been opted in and bulk uploaded into the system. A target benchmark was established for 95 percent of recipients to receive the message within 15 minutes. Actual test results exceeded both the benchmarks and the expectations of UConn administrators, according to the company and university.
Creating safety applications for mobile users is what Rave Wireless (
News -
Alert) does.
The company builds, sells and supports its Rave Alert, Rave Guardian and Rave Transit products, which include mobile safety solutions with inbound and outbound emergency alerting, personal mobile alarm services and shuttle bus trackers.
Rave Wireless, Inc, in April, announced that it would make marketing toolkits available to university clients to help increase student body participation in campus-wide mobile software and emergency alerting initiatives.
