The communications systems of Strix Systems (News - Alert), like Access/One Outdoor Wireless Systems (OWS) and integrated high performance Personal Mobile Command (PMC), are being deployed in emergency response vehicles and tactical mobile communications for public safety at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Strix Systems is a provider of Wireless Mesh Networking. The modular mesh systems of this company deliver the largest capacity, highest throughput and best scalability in the industry.

The PMC delivers ongoing mesh continuity and instantaneous triangulation between public safety vehicles and security personnel strategically dispatched around the Olympic Stadium and downtown Beijing during the Olympic Games to be held in August 2008.

Silicon-Star Science and Technology Development and Beijing Aerospace Changfeng together designed and integrated the PMC.

According to Mr. Zhou, CTO of Beijing Aerospace Changfeng, “We needed to deliver a complete and stable mobile video/data/voice communications solution for public safety at the Olympics. We chose Strix because it delivered high bandwidth with excellent coverage over a continuous moving mesh network while streaming video surveillance and multimedia collaboration between personnel.”

The PMC has been integrated with Strix Access/One modular technology. It is a small, portable and hardened wearable unit that instantly establishes high-speed, low-latency, pervasive mobile wireless broadband network communications between each other as well as emergency command vehicles. The PMC can be attached to public safety personnel via a small body-worn harness or belt. It performs the services of a mobile communications center with integrated wireless broadband and satellite access for live on-scene video surveillance and personal video/voice communications.

Martin Levetin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Strix, stated, “Strix Systems Access/One offers excellent quality and performance which gives Silicon Star and its customers a superior price/performance advantage. Silicon Star is a high value partner and distributor with excellent technical and market experience.”

The high performance radio optimizations of Strix are combined with advanced antenna technologies in order to deliver maximum coverage, penetration and throughput. The Strix Access/One OWS node which provides a mix of up to six high power 802.11 a, b, g, j and 4.9GHz radios configured for access as needed will be deployed in emergency response command and public safety vehicles.
