with a centralized console, thus consoliating hardware, eliminating space-consuming
equipment, and reducing excess power consumption. The A1000 connects to a PC's multimedia
ports providing switching capabilities for peripherals such as sound cards, speakers, and
microphones. The S-1000 connects to a server's serial ports providing switching
capabilities for RS232C-type devices such as modems, printers, touchscreens, and serial
mice. For more information, contact Dan Branley at 206-223-2365.

CTI Market To Triple By Year 2000, MMTA President
Predicts
The market for CTI products will almost triple by the year 2000, predicted William R.
Moroney, president & CEO of the MultiMedia Telecommunications Association (MMTA), in
an address at COMDEX Canada '97. Speaking at a session entitled "Successful CTI
Applications," Moroney cited MMTA research forecasting that the North American market
for CTI software and hardware would grow from $885.9 million in 1996 to $2.38 billion in
2000. Moroney said, "...the only possible road-block to any businesses' success over
the next few years with CTI will be the quality of their workforce. How well each
company's best technical people understand the fundamental elements of converging
telecommunications and computing technologies, will easily determine which companies use
CTI to become stars and which fall by the wayside." Moroney disclosed that the MMTA
will announce a new Level-1 Certificate Program teaching and testing basic
telecommunications, data communications, and LAN and CTI skills. For more information,
