Proventsure, specializing in providing automated Risk Assessment and Policy Auditing software to Fortune 2000 and Federal organizations, announced the release of free-to-download software, My ID Protector, which mitigates Identity Theft and data loss by deciphering sensitive personal information on computers before they are stolen.
The Federal Trade Commission’s Red Flag ID Theft Program ruling emphasizes that organizations should implement Identity Theft Protection programs by Nov. 1. The detection program must be able to detect and prevent identity theft of customer data which can be used to steal a customer’s identity.
The ruling will affect financial, utility, educational and retail organizations. Consumer advocates welcomed the original draft of the ruling and also included a broad mandate for protection against ‘possible risk’ including precursors of ID theft like security breaches.
My ID Protector includes fully-integrated tools which cleanse computers by the discovery of sensitive data, encrypting or deleting sensitive files, examining file data and searching for similar content like Social Security Numbers (SSNs) or credit card numbers. The assessment is effortless with simplified reporting.
Proventsure’s Enterprise Data Loss Prevention technologies uses algorithms originally used to map Human Genome for discovering “unknown and interesting” genes. Here it is used for discovering unknown and interesting types of information. This allows the analysis engine to “learn” decoding techniques for various proprietary and unknown formats.
“With the increase of malware targeting home users and their information, we felt it was imperative to give all people the same control over sensitive information that was previously reserved for IT Administrators,” said Proventsure’s EVP of engineering, Kevin Douglas.
Gary Golomb, company CEO, pointed out that Proventsure was uniquely positioned to face the challenge of Red Flag programs. My ID Protector meets requirements to audit the soundness of personally identifiable information handling.
“Proventsure’s enterprise audit platform, now in its third-generation, enables organizations to go further by automating probability of loss assessment and mitigation of risk to that information,” he said.
Proventsure offers automated Risk Assessment and Governance/ Policy Auditing software to Fortune 2000, mid-market and global organizations. The company focuses on auditing desktops, laptops, and departmental servers for policy compliance and violation of laws and regulations.
The company’s technologies execute repeatable and defendable real-time auditing of regulated/sensitive information like Personally Identifiable Information (PII like SSN, contact info and account numbers) and also sensitive non-public proprietary information like engineering plans, drug plans etc.
