Alloptic (News - Alert), a developer of RF over glass (RFoG) and passive optical networking (PON) solutions for CATV, telecom, and private network operators worldwide has won key security projects in Mexico.

Hintze ITC is deploying the Alloptic GEPON solution in three key smart city projects in Mexico. The Alloptic access solution is used for bi-directional communications, monitoring, and surveillance.

“We’ve deployed the Alloptic solution in a number of resorts in Mexico,” Kai Hintze, President of Hintze ITC said.

“Those initial deployments introduced us to the robustness of PON and its ability to be used in wide-area security and monitoring applications- streets, mass transit, and physical security. Today, our customers are leveraging the efficiency of PON to quickly and affordably expand their security networks beyond where point-to-point networks could cost effectively go. With the rich set of applications that can be supported on the Alloptic PON, our customers can leverage a single infrastructure for both security as well as communications services.”

Alloptic is hadquartered in Livermore, California and has customers in 20 countries, spanning 6 continents.

“PON is frequently underestimated as engineers design networks,” said Shane Eleniak, VP of Marketing and Business Development for Alloptic.

“In the US, PON is often seen as a solution for just fiber-to-the-home or residential applications. In fact, Alloptic has been deployed in industrial applications in South Africa for a number of years. Our hardened technology makes our solution ideal for industrial monitoring and sensing applications.”
