Alltel Wireless and mSpot (News - Alert) made a joint announcement that mSpot Remix would power Alltel’s Over-The-Air (OTA) mobile phone to PC, music syncing service.

Music powered by Celltop for Alltel (News - Alert) would be the most convenient way for consumers to gain access to their non-DRM protected music libraries from their wireless phones according to the press release.

Music provided by Celltop can be accessed by customers by visiting the Axcess Shop on their Alltel phone in order to subscribe. Then the mSpot Remix mobile player connects the customer’s PC over the Alltel network enabling the consumer to access all the songs and play lists.

The customer has to press the ‘play’ button from the mSpot Remix mobile player and the Remix will start playing the song at the same time downloading the entire song which is then saved in the phone’s memory card. This enables the customer to listen to this song in future too even when not connected to the network.

Daren Tsui, co-founder and CEO of mSpot remarked, “We are extremely excited to work with Alltel Wireless and bring their customers an easy way to use their phones as music players. With no cables and an incredibly easy-to-use wireless interface, Alltel’s Music powered by Celltop is the first service to leverage the power of their network to make music truly mobile.”

Alltel customers at present can access music powered by Celltop using their MOTOROKR Z6m.There are plans to launch the Remix to other Celltop capable handsets in 2008 said Alltel in a statement.

Scott Moody, director of multimedia services for Alltel Wireless commented, “Remix has allowed Alltel Wireless to deliver the most innovative and flexible wireless music solution in the industry. Our customers love their music, and we’ve given them a way to take it with them anywhere.”

mSpot Remix OTA music syncing is available as a standalone service to mobile operators. It is also available as a compliment to mSpot’s mobile music services like mSpot Make-A-Ringer ringtone customization service and with streaming radio and video services.
