EQO Communications rolled out a promotion today to encourage its users to invite their friends to save money on international calls, text/SMS, and instant messages. Under the “Free Your Friends” promotion, EQO offers friends of existing users free calling time and text messages though the end of 2007.
EQO (pronounced “echo”), is a free, easy to use application that lets users make cheap international calls, text messages and instant messages to anywhere in the world. Its general calling rates start at 2.3 cents per minute. In the current promotion, whenever a current user joins a friend company awards free calling time to the new entrant in the network.
“We don’t charge for calls and texts between EQO users, so our users already recognize the inherent benefit from sharing EQO,” says EQO VP Marketing Rich Roberts. “This promotion gives our users the extra reward of free EQO credits so they can make free calls to landlines or to people who don’t use EQO yet. Our customers may never have to pay for an international mobile call or text message again.”
For every friend that a user invites who connects to EQO, the inviter will receive up to one hour of free international calling minutes and/or 25 text messages to anyone. All current and new EQO customers who have an active account are automatically enrolled in the EQO “Free Your Friends” Promotion.
EQO says the promotion program works just like your mobile’s phonebook - simply scroll through your contacts and click to call or send a message.
