In a move focused on bringing more productivity and efficiency to workplaces, ServiceNow (News - Alert) has announced it will acquire Element AI. The artificial intelligence company will provide ServiceNow with access to some of the most advanced AI capabilities developed by scientists and practitioners to drive its intelligent workflow platform further. This includes adding modern AI to text and language, chat, images, search, question response, and summarization to the offering.
The deal, which is expected to be completed in early 2021, is part of ServiceNow’s latest move to add more AI innovation natively in its Now Platform. The company also purchased Loom Systems, Passage AI, and Sweagle earlier this year.
“AI technology is evolving rapidly as companies race to digitally transform 20th-century processes and business models,” said ServiceNow Chief AI Officer Vijay Narayanan. “ServiceNow is leading this once-in-a-generation opportunity to make work, work better for people. The Now Platform includes both practical, purpose-built AI and analytics capabilities, making it possible for enterprises to locate relevant information, understand content and conversations and make predictions and recommendations that automate repetitive tasks and allow optimal actions to be taken.
As part of the deal, ServiceNow also said it plans to establish an AI Innovation Hub in Canada that will deepen its investment in the market and provide access to world-leading AI talent in the area. It is also bringing on Element AI Co-founder and Lead Fellow, Dr. Yoshua Bengio as technical advisor. Bengio is a winner of the 2018 ACM A.M. Turing Award for his pioneering contributions to modern AI.
