The Education System Needs WFM Too
When users think of a workforce management tool, they usually attribute it to a business, as they are usually the ones in need of a solution that can capture and analyze interactions across all channels in order to help them make strategic decisions. However, another sector has decided to use WFM to their advantage: educational systems.
With factors like budgeting inhibiting them, schools are behind on some of the technological evolutions that have exploded in the past year. Educational systems are, however, undergoing an adjustment to the new digital era, schools have begun to purchase innovative software for their offices, or have even begun converting to the cloud. By utilizing such solutions schools might not only be able to optimize workflow, but use the money saved in such areas and put it toward technology education as well.
The most recent purchase is from Fort Wayne Community Schools, which has selected WorkForce Software to optimize time and leave management. As one of the largest schools in Indiana, and more than 30,000 students each year in over 51 one schools, the district has decided to purchase a solution that would give them the greatest return on investment (ROI).
Jack Byrd, director of technology for FWCS, wanted a solution that would accommodate all of the school’s K-12 requirements and compliance demands without customization or work outside the system. "Fort Wayne Community Schools has an ambitious roadmap for improving efficiencies throughout the organization," added Mark Kurowski, vice president of Global Services. "We are delighted to welcome another K-12 district into our client community, and look forward to helping them streamline FMLA compliance and other key workforce processes."
To take this notion even further, educational systems can not only adopt WFM suite, but can also manage them in the cloud and save more money and have an even greater ROI. First, schools will save money on hardware, databases or a data center infrastructure, as the cloud exists in the digital space. It also allows for unlimited space without the need of buying new servers or software installations. Also, the cloud can be accessed from anywhere at any time as long as there is Internet access. With a lower investment on WFM, a more rapid return is made in the cloud application, and any updates can be delivered automatically without installing new software.
For a school district as large as Fort Wayne the cloud will also help on the issue of server location, since they are discouraged from storing all their information in a single place in case of a natural disaster or server breakdown. The environment of a server is stored in is a precarious one as well, because of factors like temperature, so in the case of a building losing electricity the fate of the server is dependent on the generator. But, in the cloud, temperature and location are not an issue.
Education is one of the most important sectors in our country, and it is important that they begin to utilize the latest technologies on the market in order to create the utmost working and learning environment for our youth. For more information on WFM and the cloud, click here.
