When next-generations networking and communication solutions provider ADTRAN (News - Alert) acquired Bluesocket last year, the two companies were well-aware of the advancements and innovations their partnership was going to create in the wireless and particularly the WLAN industry.

Building on the success the new Bluesocket division of ADTRAN has had with its WLAN offerings, ADTRAN recently announced one of its latest achievement as Transbeam (News - Alert), one of the fastest-growing, network-based providers of carrier-grade Ethernet services, has deployed ADTRAN’s WLAN for its wired and wireless Internet service offerings in New York City.

Transbeam's Metro Ethernet-over-Copper (EoC) utilizes Total Access 5000 Multi-Service Access and Aggregation Platform to extend service reach beyond that of existing fiber access. For the wireless solutions, Transbeam selected ADTRAN's Bluesocket (News - Alert) virtual wireless LAN (vWLAN) solution to provide managed Wi-Fi services at one of New York's most iconic luxury hotels in Midtown Manhattan.

ADTRAN's WLAN solution allows Transbeam to deliver better services to more customers with a lower cost of ownership regardless of whether their tenants are accessing services over fiber, copper, TDM or wLAN.
