What is Voip
VoIP is short for “Voice Over Internet Protocol.” VoIP allows people to use their Internet connection as the medium of transmission for telephone calls. Voice data is sent over the Internet instead of traditional circuit transmissions.
How Voip Works
From your home or your business, a VoIP device (ATA box, IP phone, USB phone or other VoIP enabled device) converts your voice into a data packet and transmits it through the broadband connection to the Dalcom infrastructure. The data packets travel over the Internet, rather than over regular phone lines to DalCom’s infrastructure where it is converted again from data back to voice where it is then sent to an international voice carrier for final termination. The people you call will receive the call on a regular phone. They don’t need an Internet hookup or any special equipment.
