Introduction to Webinar Solutions

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Web seminars, also known as Webinars or Web conferences, simplify communication processes in businesses. Of all the benefits communications technologies have brought to the world, Webinars are one of the most rewarding as they offer multiple benefits in terms of cost reduction, infrastructure savings, increased productivity of workforce, and perhaps most importantly, reduction in energy consumption.

Webinars are online replications of group presentations, seminars, training classes or meetings conducted in real time. They facilitate easy interaction with each participating member without losing the immediacy and face-to-face experience. Advanced Web communication technologies have improved the efficiency of Webinars to offer “real” feel of the event in a high-tech environment.

Online meetings are managed by an organizer who invites a list of attendees to listen or watch the presentation. Webinars are set up using special Web-conferencing software that is integrated with existing email, instant messenger, calendar, and organizer of the attendee. An invitation to the Webinar is sent via e-mail or as an instant messenger along with the link containing access code for logging into the Webinar. Calendars are used to remind organizers and attendees to join the program without fail.

Web seminars and Web conferences slightly differ in terms of the number of participants and their interactivity level. Web conferences are virtual meetings with fewer than 25 attendees where each of them gets an opportunity to speak. On the other hand, Web seminars are usually online presentations delivered by one or more people to a larger group.

Packetel (News - Alert), a provider of online communications solutions, offers its Turbo Meeting Web conferencing solution, which is an online conferencing platform for even a novice Web user. To make the Webinars more user-friendly, Packetel incorporates media rich features such as interactive whiteboard and annotation functions suitable for each type of Webinar solution.

Packetel’s Webinar solution is used for sales presentations, customer support, product and software demos, online training meetings, workgroup collaboration and Web surfing parties. The Turbo Meeting Web portal allows customers to be part of Webinars in a convenient and secure manner.
