Expand Networks (News - Alert), a major player in optimizing WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualization, and Eurodata, a supplier of IT products and services, will be demonstrating the latest innovations in acceleration techniques for optimizing services across today’s government network environments at GTEC 2009.

The live demonstration will enable visitors to experience Expand Networks’ advanced range of WAN optimization solutions across virtualized infrastructures, VDI deployments, mobile enterprises and satellite environments.

“Optimized server consolidation, datacenter virtualization, and virtual desktop infrastructure enable government institutions to deliver public services with maximum efficiency,” said Howard Teicher, vice president for public sector & satellite markets, Expand Network, in a statement.

Teicher said that delivering the industry’s widest protocol coverage with a completely hardware agnostic solution, Expand Networks’ unique ability to be deployed as part of any virtual infrastructure, as well as accelerating all IP and RDP based-applications within VDI environments, fulfills the promise of virtualization initiatives over the WAN.

He said that in metropolitan and rural areas, as well as far-flung tactical deployments, Expand’s WAN Optimization technology mitigates latency, increases bandwidth capacity, accelerates application performance and saves taxpayer money.

Prairie North Region Health Authority of Saskatchewan, Canada, recently chose Expand to enable a VDI project roll out following the expansion of its support operations for a new region.

“Expand’s pedigree in optimizing WAN environments combined with its unrivalled virtualization expertise in integrating into virtual infrastructures, as well as accelerating virtualized applications made it the clear choice,” said Dwayne Lessner, IT Operations Manager.

Lessner said that without Expand the company’s VDI investment would not have been realized.

The live demo will showcase Expand Networks WAN optimization full range of capabilities; replicating a typical virtualized environment’ simulating a virtual data center complete with a domain controller, web, and file servers; a virtualized Appliance at the remote office and a mobile accelerator client at the desktop.

Teicher said that the demo will allow customers to explore company’s superior capabilities including Layer 7 traffic discovery and Quality of Service, TCP Acceleration, IP optimization, and acceleration of RDP/VDI in a realtime environment where changes can be configured on the fly to simulate any network environment.
