Digium (News - Alert), a provider of business phone systems hardware and software, both on-premise and cloud-based, recently announced its new partnership with Tech 4 Canada, a reseller of communications products. The partnership will give Digium an avenue into the Canadian telecommunications market where businesses can purchase its IP phones, VoIP gateways, and telephony cards and can subscribe to its enterprise unified communications products.
Digium's announcement notes Tech 4 Canada's excitement about the chance to offer its own customers the complete line of telephony products. Alejandro Gutierrez, the CTO of Tech 4 Canada, said his company offers the best products in the market.
“We are really excited to serve the Canadian customers by offering Digium's complete portfolio of VoIP products and solutions along with our professional advice and support,” Gutierrez said. “We provide the best telephony solutions for our customers, and that is the reason why we choose to partner with Digium.”
The Digium website lists the various telephony products it offers. The lineup includes services for hosted VoIP that businesses can use to manage their unified communications entirely from the cloud, an on-premise IP-based private branch exchange system that allows for in-house control of desktop and mobile devices, and the Asterisk (News - Alert) open-source framework developers can leverage to create unique voice, video, and text applications.
Earlier this year, Digium released an update for Asterisk. The latest version, Asterisk 13, was released as a long-term support (LTS) model -- meaning that the company will support releases for four years and an additional year for bug fixes. Standard releases are only supported for one year and a separate year for bug fixes. New features for the LTS include the introduction of the Asterisk REST Interface, improved call transfer capability, and an improved bridging and media core.
Tech 4 Canada will reportedly be hosting a free webinar on the Digium Switchvox (News - Alert) phone system and has trained its employees on all aspects of the Digium product line.
