VoIP Switch Offers SIP Client for Blackberry Handsets

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Looking for a SIP client for Blackberry handsets? VoIP Switch might have just the thing for you. And because they're nice guys in a good mood, here's the demo.

It's a SIP client for Blackberry handsets, and includes a license for VoIP providers along with an unlimited number of users. Vippie Mobile for Blackberry is a SIP softphone that works on Blackberry Curve and Bold series, and comes with support for the g711 codec.
You'll get support for VoIP tunnel technology ,which works from blocked areas or from behind firewalls for both incoming and outgoing calls, as well as connectivity over Wi-fi, GPRS, EDGE or UMTS.
Vippie! mobile can work with VoIp Switch, and also with 3rd party SIP servers, adding that "The softphone can be linked to an IP address of a voipswitch (or a SIP server) or to a DNS name." To give you and idea, they give the example of "example sip.mymobilevoipcalls.com."
When describing the main features of the offering, VoIP Switch officials point to it giving users the ability to make and receive SIP calls, and the fact that it has a built-in tunnel for passing through VoIP blockades. See the site for more information about that.
There's also connectivity through WIFI, 3G, EDGE and GPRS, contacts (a phone book), a loudspeaker, balance information, destination and rate information, time and call status logs, last calls logs redial and more.
To get a test account contact [email protected]. The price of the branded version of the dialer is $3,500, and VoIP Switch sells it to ITSPs with an unlimited users license, which means that a provider can buy the SIP client from VoIp Switch, then "post it on the Web and let its customers download it without any royalty fees," VoIP Switch officials explain.
The dialer works on Wi-Fi or 3g.
