Thoma Bravo, LLC, a leading private equity investment firm, announced signing a definitive agreement to acquire Empirix (News - Alert) Inc., an end-to-end network testing, monitoring and analytics solutions provider, for an undisclosed sum. The transaction is expected to be finalized by early November. The equity firm has been on an acquisitions spree of communication applications and information technology service providers for the past several years including Blue Coat Systems Inc., InfoVista, Keynote Systems Inc., Mentum (News - Alert), nCircle, Netronome Network Instruments, OSS, Solera Networks, and SonicWALL.
This gives the firm a strong footing as managing, monitoring, and analyzing IP-based data networks becomes a critical component of the connected world that we are all going to be living in. As the volume of data increases daily due to faster network technologies, being able to capitalize on this information will become a very important asset.
As a service assurance, analytics, and test and measurement capabilities company, Empirix helps an organization in customer experience and user satisfaction by testing, monitoring, analytics, and intelligence to maximize their technology investments while lowering the impact risk to customers and implementation. The company offers service providers, mobile operators, and enterprise solutions companies to deal with complex issues within their networks by optimizing business performance with actionable data in real-time designed to improve overall operations.
The service Empirix provides is used by top global communication service providers, mobile operators, banks, insurance, and health organizations. The growth the company has experienced in the past several years has been driven by global Tier 1 mobile operators seeking its services. This resulted in 22 percent year-over-year revenue growth in 2012.
"Empirix has experienced significant growth in the past several years as companies strive to better manage and transform complex communications systems and the business objectives they support,” said John D’Anna, the company’s chief executive officer. The resources of Thoma Bravo will strengthen our position to meet our customer’s glaring need for next-gen technology, while we rapidly complete our plan to bridge applications and network monitoring for both the enterprise and service provider markets."
