As businesses continue to increasingly turn to VoIP and UC, they are at the same time leaning toward the managed services model to avoid extra costs and complexity when handling their managed networks. Many see a plethora of benefits in turning to managed services for converging their voice and data networks, yet some think that there can still be some things at stake.
In a TMC podcast with Tone Software’s (News - Alert) Paul Wiggins, we get down to the nitty gritty of this commonly-faced issue. “To put it simply, what is at stake is the success of the business,” Wiggins starts. This isn’t too light of a thing to juggle or risk. “Now more than ever, businesses want to leverage technology to gain a competitive edge,” he continues, adding that these types of technologies can include sophisticated communications applications.
“[While these] traverse the converged network; however, the current business climate has created an extremely harsh environment for IT organizations responsible for deploying and maintaining these technologies.” In other words, the current economic conditions were trimming down already lean IT departments, and that’s certainly not a good thing.
“In order to remain competitive, businesses need to increase productivity out of their existing human resources,” he notes, which in a nutshell, means that businesses need to capitalize on their current investments for added benefits.
Underlying VoIP networks are what support a string of new investments companies are partaking in for further success, such as mobility, which is quickly becoming a main priority for businesses of all kinds. “The problem is that they have a shrinking IT organization that is dealing with an increasingly complex environment and a rapidly growing workload.”
As you can only imagine, that doesn’t sound like a recipe for much success. Wiggins notes that this is causing company executives to reevaluate both what is and what is not a part of their core business.
There is a solution to this, though. Outsourcing the continuous monitoring and management of the converged network to a knowledgeable managed service provider (MSP) can work to fix this in many ways. It not only improves the stability and quality of the converged network services, but also reduces the operating expenses for the IT organization and frees the IT staff to focus on more strategic initiatives, Wiggins tells TMC (News - Alert).
This is exactly where Tone Software, a VoIP monitoring and management industry expert, comes into play. The company works with many MSPs using its signature Tone ReliaTel streamlined solution to manage their client’s complex converging networks for optimum efficiency and guaranteed satisfaction.
