Comptel Corp., a vendor of dynamic operations support system (OSS) software and converged communications, has unveiled its strategy for Next Generation Fulfillment (NGF).
“Understanding and aligning with our customers' businesses and intentions has been a key driver in Comptel’s NGF strategy,” said Antti Koskela, senior vice president, products and solutions at Comptel, adding that the company is focusing on what the future holds for fulfillment, including converged and blended product offerings, catalog-based simplification, real-time awareness, and empowering the open dialogue needed with partners and adjacent providers.
The company is evolving its current fulfillment solutions towards a real-time, catalog-driven and fully integrated platform, which is designed to support the changing service aggregation needs of converged communications service providers (CSPs) and network operators.
It’s seen that increasingly CSPs are becoming service aggregators since they offer “blended” products that combine their own services and capabilities with elements provided by partners and external suppliers.
Also, at the same time, the proliferation of devices and services such as M2M means that orders may not be coming via the traditional CRM or conventional order capture system, but through devices or other systems.
Company officials said that in the near future, there has to be a radical change in fulfillment software. They should become more intelligent, resilient, scalable and fast, and Comptel’s NGF strategy is designed to meet that challenge.
The latest release of Comptel Fulfillment integrates the provisioning and activation engine, which has been deployed by more than 130 service providers worldwide. Company officials said that this means Comptel Fulfillment is now better positioned to handle the increasing number of data transactions, prevalent in real-time services such as the broadcast and streaming of video to devices, enterprises and homes.
For mobile, fixed and converged service providers, fully catalog-driven Comptel Fulfillment creates an abstract environment, enabling them to flexibly design new services and efficiently launch and deliver them. Company officials said that this provides the advantages of reducing time-to-market and maintaining a competitive edge in the breadth and quality of CSPs’ service portfolios.
The first phase of the NGF platform has been deployed by a number of customers globally. Most recently, Comptel announced that Australia's NBN Co had selected Comptel Fulfillment.
Company officials indicated that the next major release of Comptel Fulfillment, due H1 2012, will offer significant enhancements in the streamlining of product delivery into complex and aggregated network, service and application environments, complementing the new activation and catalog-driven capabilities in the current release.
Additionally, Comptel also announced that Telenor (News - Alert) Hungary, a member of the international Telenor Group, has selected Comptel Provisioning and Activation.
