Voice management leader Tone Software (News - Alert) had a busy few days leading up to the Memorial Day weekend, replete with lectures, demos and client meetings.
Last week, Tone Software, a software development firm specializing in global business, telecommunications, and IT infrastructure management solutions, attended the IAUG Global Conference in Las Vegas, an official event for the Avaya (News - Alert) Users Group whose members are all users of Avaya telephony equipment and products.
The event was attended by Avaya Business Partners (resellers of Avaya equipment and products), and Avaya DevConnect (News - Alert) partners (vendors whose solutions work with Avaya equipment and products, such as Tone Software). Tone Software participated in both the trade show, exhibiting its ReliaTel VoIP QoS and Network Performance management solution, and the conference track, by hosting an educational session on demystifying VoIP QoS.
“The Avaya show was a very worthwhile event, providing a great venue to talk in-depth with Avaya users about their voice communications initiatives and projects, what issues they’re experiencing, and how they are addressing those issues,” Tone Software’s Director of Marketing Tracey Whitney told TMCnet. “It is also valuable to interact with the Avaya Business partners and other Avaya DevConnect members to share their perspective on the industry as a whole, and where they see the market going in the next 12-24 months.”
One of the main trends identified by Tone Software at the conference was that the activity level for VoIP and unified communications (UC) adoption and deployment is on the rise. Tone Software met with a variety of companies that are in the process of rolling out VoIP and UC-based communications who are now faced with the challenge of supporting voice traffic over the network and delivering high quality voice management services.
“Mainly we chatted about reported VoIP quality and network performance issues are a primary challenge they are now tackling as their user adoption grows,” Whitney said. “We also saw a large turnout for the VoIP QoS educational session Tone presented during the event – it was quite obvious many voice and network pros are hungry for more knowledge on how to better support their growing VoIP and UC environments.”
Tone Software’s Amit Kapoor, director of strategic technology advancement with over 14 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, led a session entitled “The Language of VoIP QoS – Demystified.” The session addressed what the various VoIP quality metrics mean, how you can use them to accurately identify and resolve VoIP quality and service issues across your converged Avaya communications infrastructure, and how VoIP quality metrics are related to common quality symptoms.
The session was quite popular, according to Whitney, attracting more than 50 participants.
When asked what Tone Software’s favorite part of the event was, Whitney said that it was seeing how the company’s voice management software ReliaTel can really help these users deal with the challenges they are currently facing.
“Our ReliaTel VoIP QoS and Network Service Assurance technology provides these users with a powerful solution to manage and control their VoIP QoS, converged network performance, and their overall user-experience as they move forward with their converged communications initiatives,” she said.
In addition to presenting at the conference track and attending the trade show, Tone Software was also able to celebrate the fact that it has once again been recognized as a gold member of the Avaya DevConnect program.
Tone Software’s ReliaTel VoIP Management solution was recently recognized as being compatible with key Internet Protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya. The voice management company offers its ReliaTel solution which is designed to provide comprehensive VoIP quality and service level management for converged environments, including real time VoIP QoS and QoE analysis and trunk performance reporting for Avaya Communications Manager through the SAT interface. The ReliaTel RTCP, SNMP, and SAT functionality is now compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Aura Communication Manager 6.0.
Being named a gold member of the Avaya DevConnect program for many years has meant the world to Tone Software, according to company officials.
“Avaya DevConnect membership provides many benefits, probably the most significant is the compatibility testing and certification of third party technology with the latest Avaya communications technology, such as Avaya Aura Communications Manager 6.0,” Whitney said. “Tone’s ReliaTel was recently certified by Avaya for compatibility with Aura CM 6.0 as part of Tone’s DevConnect Gold membership – this ensures our mutual Avaya – ReliaTel clients of seamless interoperability between the two technologies.”
All in all, IAUG was a success according to Tone Software officials and the company is eager to attend the event again next year.
“Events such as IAUG provide a dedicated slice of time for all parties – users, vendors, business partners – to pause from our busy schedules, and focus on interacting, learning, and aligning our collective understanding of the trends and directions of the communications technology that impacts us all,” Whitney said.
