PingTone Communications Benefits from Quintum Access Solutions for Analog-to-VoIP Integration

Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Associate Editor

PingTone Communications just made it easier for analog users to take advantage of VoIP without having to purchase all new IP-ready equipment.

Tapping into Quintum (News - Alert) Technologies’ Tenor AFG200, PingTone Communications is now offering the capability to integrate analog devices, such as fax machines, with VoIP-based networks. The Quintum Tenor AF Series integrates a gateway, a gatekeeper, and intelligent call routing while supporting QoS. The Tenor connects to the data network through a 10/100 Ethernet interface, the voice network through either a PBX or phone, or the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

For PingTone, the Tenor AFG200 tackles the issue of analog-to-VoIP connectivity with a “true plug-and-play installation” which is managed by PingTone from its central network operations center. According to officials at PingTone, the Tenor AFG200 is an easy solution for customers looking to take advantage of VoIP while still being able to use their existing office equipment and modem-based devices.

"PingTone's hosted services are well-suited for businesses that want to embrace convergence, but don't want to devote inordinate capital or human resources to the move," said Chuck Rutledge, vice president of marketing at Quintum Technologies in a statement. "We will continue working closely with them to meet the evolving communications requirements of their customers."

For PingTone, Quintum’s Tenor AFG200 provided an advantage by offering T.38 capability and low total cost-of-ownership.

Quintum believes that VoIP has not been widely accepted because all too often, companies are afraid to take a risk. With a need for communications on a day-to-day basis, hardly anyone wants to put their business on the line due to faulty phone service. Quintum’s products address these concerns, offering solutions that make it easy to integrate VoIP into most networks without having to sacrifice cost.
