Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Network Equipment Technologies (News - Alert) has released its VX1800 Voice Exchange, its latest offering in NET’s VX Series intelligent media gateway product line, which enables businesses to seamlessly integrate their existing telecommunications infrastructure with VoIP, unified communications, and enterprise mobility solutions.

This high capacity intelligent media gateway for enterprise VoIP and unified communications boasts advanced interoperability features, the VX1800 provides capabilities that go beyond the limitations of simple VoIP media gateways. The VX1800 supports up to 5,000 users in a single-box solution with redundant AC power and expandable software modules.

Talbot Harty, vice president and general manager of NET's (News - Alert) Voice & Mobility Solutions Group said the VX1800 Voice Exchange is specifically designed to provide enterprise-class integration, interoperability, and security with the scalability required in enterprise campus environments.

According to Harty, scalability, interoperability, and security are the keys to providing customers with seamless migration to VoIP, unified communications, and enterprise mobility applications.

Network Equipment Technologies’ VX Series expandable software modules have the ability to support a broad set of integrated media gateway features, including SIP trunking, integrated session border control, bandwidth optimization, hardware-accelerated security, and remote survivability.

These options enable the VX1800 Voice Exchange to deliver what enterprises typically need for migration to IP-based voice networking, unified communications and enterprise mobility while maintaining interoperability with existing voice networks and PBX infrastructure.

Yesterday, Network Equipment Technologies’ recently acquired subsidiary Quintum (News - Alert) Technologies released its new Unified Communications Proxy (UCP) for Tenor VoIP MultiPath Switches and Gateways.
