Teligent, a global supplier of value added services to telecommunications carriers, has chosen the Tektronix (News - Alert) Spectra2 portable diagnostics platform and conformance test suites.

The carrier will use the suite to provide on-site testing and analysis of its voicemail and IP-based switch services in 3G/IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert)) compatible next generation networks.

The Tektronix Spectra2 hardware and conformance suites are supplied by Swedish-based Tektronix representative Electryon. The suites provide Teligent with highly integrated, portable solutions enabling it to simulate load conditions, as well as monitor and test voicemail and SoftSwitch implementations.

With Spectra2 solution Teligent can test legacy PSTN and converged network signaling and network elements from a single, comprehensive multi-user platform.

According to Martin Landhage, system test engineer at Teligent, reliability, stability and quality of next generation messaging and VoIP solutions are vital to the success of IP-based communication services.

Landhage said that the user-friendly Spectra2 interface reduces training requirements and lowers tool operation overhead allowing the user to focus on performing the actual test as well as save a lot of time during product verification and test.

Using the Spectra2 ISUP (ISDN User Part) capability, Teligent can validate voicemail signaling and media performance. The Spectra2 generator application not only allows bulk call generation of ISUP Signaling with associated media, but also supports low- and high-speed SS7 signaling links.

Additionally, the Spectra2 SIP and Megaco (Media Gateway (News - Alert) Controller) test cases enable Teligent to analyze SoftSwitch performance.
